The final price of the Brent crude oil index on Friday, September 17, was $75.34 and the price of the WTI was $71.97, according to Metal News.
Oil prices fell today as the value of the U.S. dollar rose to the highest level in three weeks. The U.S. rig count also rose, while about a quarter of the gulf of Mexico's oil supply remained halted in the wake of two hurricanes.
It should be noted that Eduard Moya, chief market analyst at Oanda Trading Company, said in a note: WTI crude oil may have stabilized in the next few trading sessions so that the DOLLAR trajectory could become a little clearer.
