The latest results of the Vienna talks according to Sullivan

The White House national security adviser said the Vienna talks are underway in a serious way to discuss details of the lifting of sanctions and nuclear restrictions. 

Jake Sullivan made the remarks friday at the Aspen Security Summit when asked if Iran has any serious intentions in the talks to return to the deal or is spending time.

He added: "I'm not going to describe the content of the negotiations at this time, we're there but we're not in a certain place yet. This means that we, Iran and all sides have been aghast and are talking seriously about lifting sanctions and nuclear restrictions.

Biden's national security adviser continued: "It's not clear whether this will peak in Vienna in the coming weeks, while diplomacy is underway I don't want to say what details are on the table and what's being discussed.

Sullivan added: "Whether or not they are negotiating in good faith, I must say that the Iranians have come in a serious way to seriously discuss the details and the teams are now working on the details.

"This is a real negotiation, which is, of course, more inefficient because of its indirectness," he noted. Whether the result will be positive or not, it is too early to determine.

Putin and Biden meet

Biden's national security adviser also said about president Joe Biden's proposal to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin: "We are actively exchanging ideas for Biden and Putin's meeting."

Sullivan added: "I had a conversation with my Russian counterpart this morning. We are planning to meet heads this summer in a third European country. 

He continued: "The date and location have not yet been finalized, but Biden believes that these visits are valuable for a better understanding between the two countries and to place the relations between the two countries in predictable and sustainable conditions.
