In an interview, the French foreign minister spoke of the failure of the former US administration's policy of maximum pressure on Iran .
French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian appeared on France's radio show "Political Questions" to say that the Donald Trump administration's policy of maximum pressure had the opposite effect.
"The situation is very dangerous, Iran's acquisition of nuclear weapons will have significant geostrategic consequences," the French foreign minister said, expressing doubts about the effectiveness of previous US sanctions on Iran's nuclear targets.
"We are in the opposite position of what we wanted," Lodrian added. Trump wanted to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon with maximum pressure, but the fact is that (the Islamic Republic) is not far from achieving its goals.
