Carbon element

Carbon is a chemical element that is represented in the periodic table C and has an atomic number of 6. This element is a non-metallic element that is also found in abundance. The capacity of this element is 4, which means that it can react with 4 other elements or 4 other carbon elements. The element carbon has two general forms, diamond and graphite.

History of the discovery of the element carbon

This element was discovered in prehistoric times. The people of Bastan produced weak oxygen by burning various compounds of this element. Gradually, diamonds were discovered as a rare and valuable material. Over time, many compounds of carbon have been discovered, and the last deformity made and discovered from carbon is fullerene, which was made in human laboratories in the 1980s as a by-product of carbon.

Carbon element properties

Carbon has many properties, but the most important and significant of these properties are:

1. Carbon element has a very soft structure

2. This element has a high hardness

3. Carbon has a strong affinity for bonding with small atoms

4. It has the highest sublimation point among the elements of the tonnage table

5. This element has no melting point at normal atmospheric pressure

6. Thermodynamically, this element has a great tendency to oxidize

7. Most compounds with cores are unresponsive at normal temperatures

Applications of the element carbon

Since carbon is a very important part of living organisms, it is not possible to live without carbon, and therefore carbon has many uses, some of which we will examine together.

1. The most economical use of carbon is related to hydrocarbons, which cause fossil fuels, methane gas and crude oil.

2. In the steel industry, a significant amount of carbon is added to the iron metal to produce steel.

3. Use in control rods in nuclear reactors.

4. In medicine, charcoal tablets are made of carbon, which are often in the form of powder or tablets that are used to eliminate various toxins from the gastrointestinal tract.

5. Carbon is used in the form of diamonds for decoration in jewelry.

6. Use of diamonds in the drill.

7. Carbon in graphite form with clay is used as a pencil core.

8. Application in the new science of nanotechnology.

Carbon compounds

Chemical compounds are called carbon compounds that contain carbon. These compounds are much more abundant than other compounds due to the presence of carbon in their compounds. Carbon compounds are usually found in the form of organic carbon compounds and inorganic carbon compounds. Applications of these compounds include the use of nanocarbon pipes.

Different forms of carbon element

Different forms of each element are also called that element. So far, the element carbon has been identified in 4 forms: non-crystalline, graphite, diamond and fullerene.

What is graphite

Graphite is a carbon deformation in which the element carbon is embedded in the layers of this material. These layers can easily slide on top of each other, which makes it a very soft mineral. Graphite has a dark gray color and also has a high gloss. Graphite has two types of low sulfur and persulfur.

Graphite is used to make various types of arc furnaces and batteries due to its high electrical conductivity.

Non-crystallized carbon

Non-crystalline carbon does not exist in the form of large crystalline structures but in the form of loose structures. This form of carbon is mainly found in powder form, which forms the basic components of materials such as charcoal and lamp black.

Diamonds

Diamonds are made after the carbon is hard pressed and exposed to high temperatures. Most of the places where diamonds are found are dormant volcanoes. The hardest material in the earth is diamond. The structure of this carbon material is cubic.

Full

Fullerene is a synthetic form of carbon that results from the heating of graphite. The shape of this deformity is like a soccer ball. This material has the ability to break DNA by photons.
