The term payment is not only for metals, which is also used for many other materials such as wood, and mostly means fixing the defects caused by cutting these materials after finishing work. The better the payment, the more accurate and beautiful the result will be .

What is metal work payment

Surface finishing of metals, also called polishing, means smoothing and shining or making changes to fix the defects of the work on its surface. In fact, paying metals improves the appearance of any work produced . To do this, they use a variety of polishing machines such as polishing and gillans to eliminate all or most of the waste from the incision. It can be said that industrial metal parts polishing is one of the most important stages of their production, which will have a great impact on the quality of the produced parts. This work payment, in addition to the beauty of the work, prevents corrosion and increases their resistance to deformation and abrasion. It will also increase the resistance of parts against chemical reactions and controls the level of surface friction .

How metals are paid

To pay for metals or so-called finishing metals, they apply a thin complementary layer on the work surface, which completes the work surface. Sometimes they remove only minor imperfections . Of course, the process of paying work varies in different metals, which will be determined according to the purpose of the work payment. Therefore , it has to have sufficient recognition for the metals to choose the best method for each type of metal and obtain satisfactory results .

Advantages of paying metal work

Paying metals has many advantages, some of the most important of which are :

1.The durability of metal products increases

2.Will greatly increase the attractiveness of decorative products

3.Will increase electrical conductivity

4.Increases the resistance of products to electrical and chemical damage

5.Increases the resistance of products to corrosion and rust

6.Increases the power of metals to perform electrical welds

Types of metal polishing

As we mentioned earlier, the pay for different metals is quite different and depends on various items such as the material of the metal in question . Among the different ways to pay for metals are the following :

1.Plating metals

Electroplating is one of the types of metal polishing methods. Steel plating machines have a chemical bath that is used to cover or change the surface of a metal substrate by applying a thin layer of metal such as nickel . There is also a type of electroplating called electroplating in which they use an electric current to cover the metal surface . But in non-electric electroplating, a process called autocatalytic process is used, which acts on the basis of the catalyst reaction. Barrel plating machine is used to increase the efficiency and speed of work in the production of metal parts in high volumes. Of course, plating machines will only add a thin layer on the surface. Therefore, if there are defects such as dramatic bumps on the metal surface, it will not be resolved by plating .  This means that in these cases, the parts must be polished first to resolve these defects and then plating.

2.Metal Brushing

Unlike plating method, brushing method is very suitable for removing surface defects . This method is performed using machines that will create a smooth, parallel surface that is completely uniform and soft on metal. To do this, they use abrasive belts or wire brushes in devices . It is especially effective for metal products that have applied applications .

3.Buff polishing (polishing or glossy)

Sometimes the metal level in the manufactured product must be quite uniform . In this situation, they use fabric polishing machines . This machine performs the gloss of metal products through a cloth disc or special fibers . This method is also mostly used for decorative products that require polished and luminous surfaces . Note that glossy polishing machines can round the edges of the product. That's why it will create restrictions for products that look sophisticated, fragile or patches connected together .

4.Grinding metals

The use of metal grinding machines is another way to pay for these products. These devices use methods such as friction forces, abrasion or compression to smooth and polish the surfaces of metal products.  Grinding machines themselves have different types designed for different users. But most of them have a substrate inside a rotary drum. Two common examples of metal grinding machines include rod mills for making metal rods and semi-autogene grinding mills (SAG) and autogene for polishing certain metals such as platinum, silver, gold and copper.

5.Vibrational or vibrational polishing of metals

More vibration polishing devices are used to smooth the sharp edges of metal surfaces . In this method, metals are placed inside a drum filled with abrasive pellets and then exert alternating vibrations on it to create a uniform texture . Usually the speed of the machine and the vibration rate will vary in terms of the filter size .  For this reason, it is possible to pay for both large and small parts with this machine .

6.Sandblasting or subsurfacing

This device is often used in projects that require a matte and uniform texture. In this method, using sand grains, steel grains, metal pellets or other types of abrasive seeds make the payment .  In this way, one of the said materials is thrown at high speed towards the metal substrate.  The intense collision of abrasive material to the metal surface will make it smooth and very clean. This method is especially useful for soft metals .

7.Powder coating

Powder coating such as plating will create a coating on the metal surface . Actually does a decorative payment that resembles color but is more durable than colors . For this , they melt a dry plastic powder on the metal to create a matte or polished cover in terms of waiting for the metal .  This machine, unlike the plating machine, while creating the coating, will also fix the surface defects well .

8.Thermal Blackness

Using this device, they spread a thin layer of black oxide on the metal surface to create a matte black color on the piece. This will significantly increase the resistance of the metal to wear .  In fact, this method is considered a hot payment that will be applied with very high temperatures . Products are placed in a series of tanks that contain cleaners, caustic sodas and coolants .  This method is mostly used for various auto parts, firearms and tools .
