What are iron metals

The number of iron metals is high , but some of the usual iron metals include alloy steel , carbon steel , cast iron and iron . These metals are very valuable because of their tensile strength and durability . Carbon steel, also called structural steel, is one of the main metals and materials in the construction industry and is used in the tallest skyscrapers and longest bridges. Iron metals are also used in transport containers , industrial plumbing , cars , railway tracks , and many business and household tools .

These types of metals have a lot of carbon content , generally exposed to rusting in wet environments . Of course, it is worth noting that this rule has two exceptions :

1.Wrought iron resists corrosion due to its high purity

2.Stainless steel also prevents rusting of iron due to the presence of chromium

Types of ferrous metals

Examples of the most important iron metals are :

1.Steel

Steel is made by adding iron to carbon and hardens iron . With the introduction of other elements such as chromium and nickel, alloy steel becomes even harder . The iron is produced by heating and iron ore in the ovens . Steel alloys are cast in a mold after kiln formation to form steel rods . Steel is widely used in construction and manufacturing industries .

2.Carbon steel

Carbon steel has a higher carbon content than other types of steel, which makes it extremely hard. It is commonly used in the manufacture of types of machines , drills , blades , valves , and springs . This type of steel can retain sharp iron edges, and its stainless type is used for cutting machines or tools such as scissors.

3.Alloy Steel

Alloy steels contain elements such as chromium, nickel and titanium to have more strength and durability without increasing weight. Stainless steel is also an important alloy steel that is made using chrome . alloy steels are used in construction , machinery , and electrical components .

4.Cast iron

Cast iron is an alloy made of iron, carbon and silicon . Cast iron is brittle and hard and is resistant to abrasion . They use this type of metal in water pipes , machinery , car engines , and ovens .

5.Wrought iron

Wrought iron is an alloy with a small amount of carbon, which can almost be said to be a kind of pure iron. During the production process, some slag is added to it, which gives excellent resistance to corrosion and oxidation of iron. However, wrought iron resistance to hardness and fatigue is low . Wrought iron is used for making swords, decorative fences, beds, tables and chairs, agricultural implements, nails, barbed wire, chains and various decorations.

Types of non-ferrous metals

What is the same in the previous section on all iron metals is the existence of iron metal in the manufacture of these substances . In other non - ferrous metal types , iron is no longer used as a component component . These types of metals are also used in many cases of construction, industry and که, which we will describe each of them along with their application :

1.Copper non - ferrous metal

Copper is one of the types of non - ferrous metal , which is generally soft in brown and has excellent ductility . The specific weight of copper metal is 8.9 per cubic meter and it has high tensile strength . After iron , aluminum and steel , copper is one of the most precious metals , In conventional circumstances , this metal has a long life and doesn 't ring at all . It may change color over time and heat, which is restored to its original state by tin and transplanting. There are many copper mines in Iran and for this reason, in the past, mostly copper utensils were used for various purposes.

The applications of copper in various fields are :

1.Wiring, hot water source and .... .

2.Making all kinds of decorative copper utensils and sculptures .

3.Generally , the major consumption of copper in transmitting power is electricity .

4.In the construction industry, copper and its alloys, in which all kinds of brass and bronze have been used, are used in sealing, sealing and decorative works, and in the manufacture of parts for valves, fittings and piping .

5.Copper sheets and belts are also used to cover roofs and seals .

2.Non-ferrous metal tin

tin is a white metal , and is very well shaped . The specific gravity of tin is 7.3 cubic meters and its melting point is 232 degrees Celsius.

Types of tin metal applications include

1.Different uses in buildings

2.Bleaching various dishes such as copper dishes

3.Use of tin to prevent corrosion of hot water sources, metal pipes, hot springs, etc

There is generally fewer uses of tin than zinc and other non - ferrous metals in the building . In fact, this non-ferrous metal is mostly used in combination to make certain types of alloys, especially bronze or bronze. For example, bronze is a combination of copper and tin and has many uses .

3.Non-ferrous metal lead

Lead is the heaviest and at the same time the softest industrial metal with a specific gravity of 11.34. It has a bluish tinge and is very beautiful in appearance . The melting point of lead metal was 327 ° C . This non - ferrous metal is exposed to a good resistance to the chemicals and rusting . Lead metal is usually produced and marketed in various forms such as sheets, ingots, lead wire or shaped ingots.

The most important applications of lead are :

1.Use to prevent rusting of steel pipes (for this purpose, so-called steel pipes are coated with lead)

2.In all kinds of connections of cast iron sewer pipes, etc

3.As a brain in prefabricated insulation

4.For sealing gutters, sides and roof corners

5.in producing a variety of jars

6.In radiology rooms (medical photography)

7.To align steel trusses and beams as subheadings

4.Non-ferrous metal zinc

The metal on the metal is rather soft , which has a white color . This non-ferrous metal is very resistant to air and oxidation and therefore has a variety of uses for the construction of equipment that deals with wet environments. Special presses are usually used to make all kinds of tools with zinc metal. Its specific gravity is 7.14 and its melting point is 419 ° C .

Types of applications of zinc metal are

1.Used to make galvanized sheets that dip iron sheets in a tub of molten metal to prevent the zinc coating from sticking to the surface of the iron to prevent corrosion of the iron .

2.It is used to cover the types of tubes and other steel components to prevent rust , as well as the white iron .

3.In wet places, zinc coatings such as galvanized sheet are used to make all kinds of sheets, pipes, bolts and nails .
