It is called a ferroalloy that is made from a combination of iron, silica and magnesium. This ferroalloy is used to make all kinds of unbreakable cast irons. In fact, this alloy plays a major role in providing magnesium to the cast iron melt. Its basic chemical symbol is MgFeSi, which can be changed by changing the atomic percentage of each element. The thermal process of silicon is the best way to produce magnesium ferrosilicon.
This alloy material has many different applications in various industries. But in general, if we want to examine, the most important and basic applications are as follows:
1. Converting sheet graphite to spherical for the production of cast iron
2. Increase the strength and strength of cast iron
3. Steel refining
4. Production of stainless steels in different grades
5. Production of silicon steels
6. Production of various types of carbon steels
7. Making all kinds of unbreakable cast iron
8. Connector factor
9. Use in the smelting industry of various steels and metals
1. They are in the form of colored granules that are available in different dimensions and sizes
2. Sometimes they have an odor and sometimes they are odorless
3. If it is dry in the alloy, it is not combustible
4. It is generally flammable
5. Sparks under special conditions
In general, magnesium evaporates at temperatures above 1000 degrees Celsius. This element has a strong affinity for oxygen in its pure state. For this reason, they make it into an alloy and use it to add magnesium to molten materials.
Ferrosilicon magnesium is usually added to the molds shortly before the pouring operation. When the pouring is done and the molten material is freezing, magnesium is absorbed by the graphite buds, changing the surface tension of the graphite and causing the growth conditions to be uniform in all directions. Therefore, flake graphites become spheroid.
Adding ferrosilicon magnesium to cast iron alloys not only makes the graphites spherical, but also increases the impact strength, toughness and strength of the casting.
1. Ferro-silicon-magnesium granulation 2-5 mm
2. Ferrosilicon magnesium granulation 15-6 mm
3. Ferrosilicon magnesium, grain size 10-35 mm
