Ferroalloy is a type of ferrous alloy composed of iron and niobium. The amount of niobium used in this type of alloy is approximately between 60 to 70%. Froniobium alloy is made from columbite minerals through a chemical process called aluminotherm.
1. The appearance of this alloy is in the form of lumps
2. Its appearance is grayish silver
3. This alloy is often odorless
4. Its melting temperature is 1900 degrees Celsius
5. Its density is 8 grams per cubic centimeter
1. Has a very high resistance to all kinds of corrosion
2. These materials have high resistance to very high temperatures
3. Resistant to oxidation
4. They have very high resistance to creep
5. They also have high resistance to abrasion reduction at high temperatures
Froniobium has many wide and varied uses in the industry, the most important of which are:
1. Production of low alloy steel with very high strength and durability
2. Use in a variety of cars and trucks
3. Use of this material in bridge constituents
4. Production of alloy steels with different grades
5. Can be used in turbine blades
6. Construction of all kinds of heavy structures
7. Use in propulsion systems
8. Can be used in raw materials for aircraft fuselage
9. Oil and gas pipes
10. Raw materials for all kinds of tools
This ferroalloy is usually classified according to the amount of phoniobium used in it. In general, the phoniobium used in this material is between 60 and 7%, and this alloy is often supplied in the form of jumbo bags weighing 1 ton or more or in the form of iron barrels.
This alloy material has various sizes, including 10 to 60 mm, and is available in the following categories:
1. Ferro niobium
2. Ferro Colombium
3.FeNb
4.FeCb
Adding ferroniobium alloy to steel increases the strength of steel, the resistance of steel to fatigue and also increases the weldability of steel. The addition of niobium to steel also results in the production of highly resistant alloy steels.
The addition of feroniobium to the steel prevents any corrosion between the crystals in stainless steel steels and increases the resistance of stainless steel to corrosion, weldability, ductility and toughness.
Ferroniobium is usually produced using aluminothermic reduction of niobium oxide ore. Now, if the niobium ore does not have enough iron, we add iron oxide to it.
The raw materials used in the production of this material are columbite alloy and pyrochloride concentrate in general. Of course, concentrates with a small percentage of niobium can also be used in arc furnaces by the aluminotherm process.
