Iron oxide

Chemical complexes are called iron oxides, which are naturally created and are composed of oxygen and iron. The common name of iron oxide is iron rust. So far, scientists have identified 16 types of iron oxide and iron oxyhydroxide.
The two main components of iron oxide, oxygen and iron, are naturally widespread in the world and are essential for human life.

Types of iron oxide

1.Iron (||) oxide

This type of iron oxide accounts for approximately 9% of the earth's crust. The color of this material is black and is like rust forming on the iron surface. This material can be artificially synthesized by thermal decomposition of oxalate. It is generally non-toxic and is very useful in cosmetics such as tattoo materials.

2.Iron (|||) oxide

This type of iron oxide is generally obtained from hematite and is widely used for steel production. This material is mostly used to make different jewelry and pigments. It is also used in the production of magnetic discs.

3.Iron (||) (||) oxide

This type of iron oxide is obtained from magnetite rocks. This material is available in black powder form. It is injected in medicine and is used to treat anemia and some blood diseases. It is also used to make ammonia.

Iron Oxide Applications

Used in raw materials for iron and steel production

Steel is an alloy composed of iron, carbon and several other elements. The main source of steel production in the world is ferric iron, which is used in steel by 95%.
Also, sometimes instead of ferric iron, various iron oxides are used to make steel. With the expansion of construction in the world and the expansion of the use of steel construction materials, the use of iron oxides instead of ferric iron has increased.

Production of pigments

Since iron oxide has a red pigment, it is used for many manufacturing processes. This color combination is artificially constructed as pigment no. 6 and 7 and red pigment in laboratories. This color combination can also be taken naturally from hematite. These pigments can be easily mixed with other materials as well as a wide range of natural colors.

Some of these red pigments are also used to make cosmetics. In addition, some iron oxide pigments are also used in the construction industry and industrial products. The most important use of these pigments is the staining of natural wood.

Making magnetic stripes

Magnetic bands usually give electric magnets the energy to be placed on the recording environment. In fact, magnetic environments quickly absorb the polarity transmitted on themselves and do not easily lose it.

These tapes are very widely used in recording a variety of videos, recording data, and especially in automatic recording as well as on the back of credit cards. In the not too distant past, this material was most used for storing computer data, but now, cobalt alloys and other thinner solutions with much higher storage capability have replaced these tapes.

Application in all types of melting furnaces

Iron oxide pellets are used as the raw material in the melting of the shaft furnace. These pellets, because they have very high resistance, uniformity of size and high permeability, so they have many applications in melting furnaces.

Sometimes tearing and fragmentation of these pellets causes many disturbances. The resistance of these pellets depends on their internal resistance.
