Micro-silica is a very fine, non-crystalline particle called silica, which is a by-product of electric rotary kilns and is composed of the element silicon and its various alloys. Micro silica is an additive to cement. This material has a very high reactivity in small amounts to increase the strength of concrete. Micro-silica is a gray powder that is very similar in appearance to ordinary cement.
1. Heat quartz with high purity in arc furnaces to a temperature of usually 2000 degrees Celsius.
2. Add coal, coke and wood chips to remove oxygen from carbon dioxide.
3. At this stage, the alloy is collected at the bottom of the electric furnace.
4. The silicon dioxide vapor that comes out of the quartz is oxidized and condensed into tiny spheres in the upper parts of the furnace.
5. The soot is then expelled from the furnace by strong winds from powerful propellers.
6. In this process, larger particles of wood or unburned carbon are removed and the soot is pushed into a series of special filter bags in the bag compartment.
The use of micro-silica in cement and concrete causes the formation of new compounds of C-S-H, and these compounds increase the strength and strength of the cement texture. Another view is that, because cement and concrete have a soft paste state, so these micro-silica particles cause the porosity of cement and concrete to fill, which leads to increased durability and longevity of concrete and cement.
1. Concrete strength increases dramatically
2. It increases the life and durability of concrete
3. Significantly reduces the hydration temperature of concrete
4. Micro-silica particles reduce the permeability of concrete
5. By adding micro silica to concrete, concrete becomes more resistant to sulfates and reacts less
6. Internal drainage of concrete is reduced
7. Compressive strength of concrete increases significantly
1. Can be used in high strength concretes
2. Self-compacting concrete
3. Concretes that make the structure lighter
4. Geopolymer concretes
Micro silicas are mostly available in both powder and gel forms. If our microsilica was in powder form, it needs to be mixed with a sham of mixing water and added to the mixture as a slurry. The use of microsilica in powder form reduces the durability of concrete and therefore lubricants should be used, so it is recommended to use microsilica in gel form.
1. Can be used in construction materials of various water and marine structures
2. Use in very tall building columns that must have high strength
3. In the composition of storage silos
4. In the construction of various structures related to nuclear facilities
5. Can be used in various airport facilities
